E&R's Prequal to 25: Nebbiolo: The wine I was most excited about tasting in the lineup as I have a magnum and wanted to check in with it, but there's nothing to see here, as this bottle is totally messed up. This wine should *maybe* be drinking OK at this "young" age, but this wine is totally maderized and funky, like drinking an 80 year old Barolo from an unknown producer. Absolutely no fruit whatsoever. This wine should be singing at current, or... I was hoping it at least would start to be singing (but thought it may still be too young). So no useful information was gained by trying this bottle. For shame.

Prelude 25-an E&R Nebbiolo joint (E&R Wines, Portland OR): I'm going to cry. A unicorn bottle and one I've been dying to try. Sadly, this bottle is maderized and someone was a bad bad person in how it was stored. I are not happy about this. booo

E&R Prequel 25 - Mostly older nebbiolo (Portland, OR): This had a complex but fully mature nose with black fruit, sous-bois, Indian spices, and tar. I found the palate very attractive but clearly past the peak. With air it mounted an impressive comeback and developed a lovely bottle sweetness and texture. Wow, gorgeous despite being past prime. Some experienced tasters felt this was clearly maderized. I will defer to their experience and analysis there, but I loved it regardless -- at least for a tiny 2 oz pour.

A mature nose with som soy that blew off leaving lovely balsam, tar and roses. the sis expansive and deep with terrific sap and textural richness carried wit effort or heaviness. Outstaindg and then some, but not he best bottle I have had of this. I had very high expectations for this bottle and there are no great wines, just great bottles. This one was still outstanding, just not magical like it can be. It did gain depth over the several hours we drank it. 95

Giuseppe Rinaldi in Tucson, or Tom comes to Tucson Night 1 (Ciabot Tucker): Double decanted in the AM then drunk over several hours at night.

White Truffles & Nebbiolo - 2021 Edition (Chicago, IL): At an absolute peak. Mature earth and tar infused cherry with tons of spice and licorice. Nicely integrated svelte tannins.
