  • Lovely wine. A little hot on the nose but didn’t notice it on the palate. Dark, rich, dry. Blackberry, leather, baking spices. Structured but silky tannins. Medium high acid. Lingering finish. Not showing any serious signs of aging. I’ve got several other bottles. Will probably last at least 2 to 3 more years. Drinking nicely now.

  • The 2016 Domaine Grand Veneur Côtes du Rhône Les Champauvins is a delightful red blend that paints a vivid picture of the Southern Rhône. Pouring a deep garnet, it offers a pleasing mix of dark berries, black cherry, and a subtle hint of spice on the nose. There's a touch of local terroir in the form of garrigue, adding a nice regional nuance.

On the palate, the wine unfolds with blackberry and plum flavors, complemented by velvety tannins and a balanced touch of oak. A hint of savory herbs adds complexity to the overall taste. The finish is warm and enduring, leaving a lasting impression.

This Les Champauvins is approachable now but also has the potential to age gracefully for 3-5 more years. It's a versatile choice, offering both immediate enjoyment and the promise of evolving complexity with a bit of patience. Cheers to Domaine Grand Veneur for crafting a well-balanced and expressive Côtes du Rhône.

  • Good, but will improve with another year of cellaring.

  • Drinking very nicely, classic southern rhone flavors.

  • It feels like this has improved over time, now showing well. Quite balanced with more richness and expression than I expect from the price. Such a good bargain at the $20 or so plus tax I paid four years ago.
