This was surprisingly good, with typical Zinfandel dark berry fruit on the nose and palate; notes of earthy spice and bramble on the medium to long finish, with light tannins and strong acidity. Given the tannins this won't age for long, but it doesn't need to; it's excellent now. This was a very good value at under $40. If the price doesn't climb, I will buy into upcoming vintages.

Opened, poured and let sit about 30 min. Maybe some reddish fruit on the nose. Taste is reddish-darkish fruit, but somewhat subdued; no spiciness; fairly monotone flavor; softish mouthfeel; acidity and tannins not an issue until the longish finish, when some acidity and some warmth (15% abv) become noticeable. The last of 3 bottles and all have been a bit different (see 2/4/23 and 7/9/23 notes), but not that much in a good way.

Opened, poured and let sit about 35 min. Then: Not much of a nose. Taste starts out with noticeable acidity, but that mellows out. Red fruit, but minimal intensity; almost softish mouthfeel; tannins not an issue; no noticeable spiciness or wild berry flavor. 15% alcohol, but that wasn't noticeable. Surprising that a Carlisle zin, even this entry-level one, could be this uninteresting. Quite a change from the bottle 5+ months ago. Poor QPR.

Tasting old. Tight. Had over two hours. Less fruit. Not the undertones. Still good but not what it was. Maybe awkward teenager?
