The 17 Texier Cote rotie is a demonstrative and delightful wine. A touch less brooding, dark and intense compared to the 16 (which I preferred), it still shows transparent classic syrah tones. A bit more rustic than I associate with Cote Rotie but very very good. Would surely call it a Cornas blind

A fulsome Côte-Rôtie, this non-filtered 2017 Eric Texier ain’t for everyone. Those of us who enjoy big gamey Syrah, however, should take note.
The nose on this is a cornucopia of black fruit, strawberry, olives, bacon fat.
Blue and black fruit, earth, nutmeg, and clove on the palate.

Disappointing. Metallic notes on the red fruited notes. Red fruit palate but very short, dying quickly to reveal some tannins.
