Lovely example of mature vosne. Lots of spice. Fine tannins. Sour cherry flavours. Not over the hill at all, but definitely showing some age and more secondary tertiary flavours. For my palate, I don't keep this too much longer.

Took quite some time to open up...very clean and bright fruitt with spices, celery salt, cinnamon and cherries. This reallty needs more time in bottle - quite tight at the moment. Will be excellent given time.

Cote de Nuits Tasting - Dujac -v- Grivot (Mercer Hotel, Dublin): (1998 had a reputation as a tannic, backward vintage. This wine would appear to support that generalisation.) A deeper colour and glossier hue than the 2000. Deep, tannic nose, with somewhat closed nuances of beef fat, bovril and other savoury notes. Similar theme on the palate: dark and dry and (for a Pinot Noir) extremely tannic. But not turbocharged or atypical. Good length, with a touch of drying tannin on the finish to make the mouth water. Really very good indeed: my favourite Suchots yet tonight.

Tasted over 2 days: this displayed an earthy, barnyard nose upon opening. Light ruby color, shows masses of tart cherries with a musky finish. Really opened up after a couple of hours to reveal delicate aromas of raspberry. Toothcoasting tannins present but not overwhelming. Excellent showing from an off vintage. The premier cru terroir struts it's stuff here. A very nice suprise for me-was not expecting much. 92 PTS
