This starts out charming on the nose with a beautiful bouquet of berries and subtle leather notes. However, this quickly turns out to be most overwhelmingly oaked. Not sure this will get any better with time.

80% Tempranillo that comes from its vineyards of La Cuesta and Montecillo, more than 30 years old and with clay-limestone soils, in Fuenmayor and Cenicero, and 20% that comes from La Pedriza in Tudelilla, in Rioja Oriental, 550 m and with deep boulder soils. 36 months of aging for the Tempranillo and 30 months for the Garnacha (20% is new oak and the rest of 3 wines), with 5 manual transfers. Aromatic, ripe red fruit, spices, balsamic, vanilla, toasted, fresh, silky, balanced, elegant, wide and long. Wonderful wine and enjoyable now! Cheers!!!

Ardanza 2015 & 2017 comparison (Feinkost Schneiderei Moers): Beautiful nose from the very beginning, did not change a lot with air. However, the palate was a bit underdeveloped, compared to the 2015.
