DTC Chateauneuf du Pape (@ SS): Beautiful and mature bouquet with ripe dark forest fruits and good garrigue. On the palate ripe dark forest fruits, chocolate, a bit like marmalade, a bit like port wine, but overall a really beautiful, complex and mature wine with still a future of a few years.
This wine continues to perform well. Crystal clear garnet with a touch of tawny brick on the edge. Very clean nose, no signs of brett. Garrique, savory spice and plum. Hints of pine sap and eucalyptus most likely from large format aging. Snappy, citric like acid lifts the palate as the tannin is mostly resolved. Slightly bitter finish. High quality vinification with no sign of decline. Decanted for sediment.
