-- decanted 45 min. before initial taste -- -- tasted non-blind over a couple hours --
NOSE: very light oak; rich red/purple fruit mix; hint of smoky leather.
BODY: some sediment present; black-violet-garnet color of great depth, with hardly any bricking, if any; full bodied.
TASTE: very rich red/purple-fruited Syrah; still some drying tannin; alcohol clearly stands-out; medium acidity; somewhat loose; paired nicely with steak; Drink Now. gut impression score: high 80s.

Wow, what a vibrant wine. This is head and shoulders above a Rhys Horseshoe from the same vintage I had earlier in the night. Bright acidity, with a lovely floral character reminiscent of a Cote Rotie, with some serious structure and tannins on the back end. I was worried this might be over the hill but this is still on the upslope of its growth. First Tercero I have had in many years, but this reminds me that these are well-made wines that fly under the radar.

Loved this wine, and Tercero Syrah in general.
