This is still deeply colored and throws a surprising amount of sediment. A slight roasted quality from oak quickly dissipates revealing a solid wine well described by Wine Canuck below. This could use a few years yet before trying again.

Burgundy Focused Evening at Dave's: This pours youthfully dark. Still transparent but closer to opaque than the wines prior. This nose feels a touch reductive, with dark cherry, licorice, tar, plum, just a touch of red fruit and a hint of rubber. I didn't really get the sense this really blossomed, but at the same time it felt like there was potential for this to go a little further.

Velvety feminine Volnay. Coy berry nose. Soft mature crushed dark red fruit on the palate. Good balance. Decanted and consumed over about two hours, in a great place. Took about 30 minutes to wake up. I really enjoyed this wine -- I'm a big fan of Lafon's reds. Lacks the austerity of Lafarge and D'Angerville (dig them as well) in a hedonistic way.

A Few Lafon Meursaults and Volnays (Arlequin Wine Merchant, San Francisco): Light red with browning rim. Slightly more substantial than the 2007, but it continues the trajectory away from fruit toward the more earthy, sous bois side of things. Strong acidity that is not out of place. This is fully mature.

Not a lot going on here. Lean, unexciting, short.
