Drank with friends around the campfire on the Lost Coast. Everyone loved it - including some first time Madeira tasters. Perfect camping wine! Tasting notes identical to those taken when visiting Justino's/Madeira in February.

This is a beautiful wine that I originally underrated. It is simply delicious. I love the interplay of the tangy berry fruit, the nutty oxidation, and the polished wood notes. I also love how nothing in this wine sticks out; the balance is impeccable. An arguable drawback of tawny ports is that they tend to overwhelm with dried dark fruit; there is no such sensation in this low-key wine.
At around $30, this wine is a wonderful value. Madeira more generally has won my affection.

Madeira Pilgrimage; 2/1/2016-2/4/2016 (Madeira): Lovely floral and spicy aromas. Silky and balanced with beautiful sweetness and acidity. Rich notes of honey and caramel add with notes of spices and fruit jams.

Pronounced nose, very complex. Could follow on the palate, but doesn't really. Gamey, sweet aftertaste.
