Had this with a group tasting. Nose of red fruit and spice. Both follow through on the pallet with still significant tannin though those tannins are not harsh. Seems like the wine would be better with less of that at this point. Maybe enough fruit holds on to make it great. Hard to say at this point.

Double decanted for regular wine group about 4 hours. Was very good but wonder if more air would have helped. This stood along well with higher competition. This could go on for at least several more years at least.

For a cool vintage wine, this shows in surprisingly powerful ways. Black cherry, spice and new oak on the nose. Flavors coming through are black raspberry/blackberry compote along with spice and a bit of menthol. Some chocolate? Anyway - really good stuff. It evolved significantly over the two hours in the glass. Definitely decanting next time - at least two hours.
