Medium cherry colour, not much sign of age. Dense yet fresh red fruit on the nose, and a touch of iodine. Seems rather simple. Quite light and well-composed in the mouth. Crisp and fresh, light on its feet. Pleasing but not great. ***

Colour - Garnet brick Aroma - Explosive - sweet violet, blackberry, underbrush, earth, mushrooms, milk chocolate and some feral Palate - Persistent and attractive sweetness easily holding through to a long fine finish, soft tannins. Aged and possibly at its plateau, it has plenty of life and lift to keep it going for a few more years. I wish I had more of this worthy GC.

Not at a good point of its evolution and not sure if it ever will be. Dry and closed, fruit missing for me, or too much in the background

Paul D's Chandon de Briailles @ 28-50 (28-50, Fetter Lane, London): A little more ready, but still quite surly. Hard work without much reward. A touch lactic and muddy. Lacks brightness and purity. Maybe with time, but... **(*)
