Fresh, subtle, minerally depth, rich but dry, lovely fruit (apple, peach), slightly monolithic (does it need more time?), great energy at 11 years old, finesse, subtle oak, good length. Now - 2014.

Decent white burgundy, not what I expected for a Corton. A little heavy on the oak for my taste for white burg, and lacking the complexity I would have liked. A decent quaff but not good value. Could hang on for 5-7 more years IMO.

Dinner with Friends and a Couple of Wines (Vancouver): (This is the Corton blanc.) This was surprisingly open and ready to drink (lucky for me). I expected to get a baseline on how this wine was doing, but instead found it was in quite a good drinking stage. It does show some lavish creamy new oak right now, which I think will integrate some more over time. Nice ripe tree fruit with medium to low acidity. A bit of an edgy mineral component adds some zing. The sommelier thought it was not a wine to keep much longer, but I thought it would likely peak in about 5 years. I think I'll gamble on my instinct and keep a bottle until 2010.

Pale straw/green, slight legs; full rounded apple and raisin nose (baked apples?) - but just not a big or shapely as you would expect; smooth and quite full-bodied, well-rounded buttery pear and almond flavours; medium length but not distinguished. 3-

Still remarkably fresh and pale in color. Notes of honey, pear, and slight hazelnut, spicy rich character.
