Reduced, airy, with pure scents of marjoram and white fruits, then lush, viscous, with flavors of white almonds, fine oak and chalk, then notes of sweet yellow fruits, very good textures, gorgeous depth of flavors here, combining airiness and viscosity, textbook chevalier, ending with a saline note offsetting the yellow fruits, long and minerally driven. Typical PYCM style, 2nd WOTN.

Another Wine gathering at RJ’s; 4/4/2024-4/7/2024 (Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina): Very PYCM nose displaying concentrated ripe yellow fruit, apple pie, lemon curd, butter scotch, vanilla/oak, sweet spices and limestone mineral. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of concentrated sweet yellow fruit, dense, rich and deeply toned but also very precise and focused, bright acidity, strong mineral, and a long rich yellow fruit driven finish with a hint of matchstick at the end. This strongly expresses the PYCM style, i.e. generous fruit and very reductive. Although drinking incredibly well, I doubt this will benefit from further cellaring.

Another lost Friday afternoon gathering – Mostly Burgundies with a few from Piedmonte (Jailbreak Brewery, Laurel, MD): Blind Grand Crus Burgundy - Wine 2 Very focused nose displaying incredibly concentrated yellow fruit with a hint of white, granny smith, cinnamon apple, lemon curd, steely, a hint of oak, sweet spices and earthy mineral. Exceptional concentration, layers upon layers of concentrated yellow fruit, rich, dense, chewy and deeply toned, perfect amount of acidity and mineral, and a long concentrated yellow fruit driven finish with steel and a hint of oak at the end. This is a big scale masculine Burgundy which makes me to guess as a Batard Montrachet. This is really impressive but I prefer the Girardin version which is a textbook Chevalier for me.

Popped and poured. Soaring nose of flint, lemon rind, spice and a chalky mineral component. The palate shows deep fruit, citrus extract and an incredible intensity that is chalky and mineral driven. Just outstanding.

Lacked energy of Coche Genevrieres or refinement of Raveneau Clos.
