Perfectly mature bottle. Nose of popcorn, apples, white flowers, jasmin, and a hint of butter. Refreshing acidity with flavors of minerals, ripe apples, butterscotch and citrus on the palate. Long finish. This is a big wine, but not at all over the top, with the acidity as a good counterweight to all the boldness. Distinctly Burgundy, but it does remind me a bit of Aubert is trying to do. Anyway, fantastic wine!

HDH auction at Spiaggia; 5/17/2018-5/19/2018 (Chicago, IL): This isn't showing well at all, especially after the brilliant last bottle. Long in the tooth and tired. Not oxidized, but uninspiring and old. A little heavy and alcoholic, and a metric ton of oak.

This bottle showed advanced. Lightly oxidative nose with lots of bruised orchard fruit. Rich on the palate with great concentration and some good acids, but showing advanced. Bummer.

Dinner at S.K.Y. (Chicago, IL): Holy wow, this is an absolutely smoking bottle. Like what the hell good. There's a bit of clear reduction on the nose that comes off slightly popcorny (no, it's not Coche), but it definitely speaks to the good condition of this bottle. The palate is rich and thick, with tons of powerful fruit and minerality. Great acidity and ripeness, but with the requisite structure to balance it out.
