  • Grippy tannins, cherry, some wood. Not overly spectacular.

  • This is a tough wine for me because I have had a bottle or two every few years and sometimes I open the bottle and it doesn’t suit my palette whereas other times it is excellent. Wonder if I had a few bad bottles? Anyways, it seems to come out of the gate elegant and brooding with smooth finish then can quickly turn into something more astringent. The mouthfeel is simple and there appears to be dark fruits waiting to show themselves but oftentimes they don’t show and thus the wine feels incomplete. Last bottle so will never know if additional cellaring would help or hurt.

  • Muted garnet appearance. Faded and brownish. Fairly dark at the core.
Aromas of cherry skin and some classic tertiary Bordeaux characteristics. Pencil lead. Not overly alcoholic.
The wine is in a good place for drinking. Tiny bit of tannic grip, but mostly integrated. Enough acidic structure to cleanse the palate with a meal. There’s some dark fruit. Not completely mouthfilling, but has a medium body and is balanced enough to not be harsh or syrupy. Overall a decent wine, ready to drink, could improve a tiny more from here. Excited to try my 3litre bottling in a couple years.

  • Day 3 air in bottle. Wednesday night at Chateau Davyd.
Apparently very closed on Day 1.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, purplish ruby colour. Legs.
Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of sweet red plums, blackberries, clayey wet stones, plastic. Developing.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of blackberries, black cherries, red plums, menthol. Medium+ finish.
Acceptable quality. Yes, it tastes like Bordeaux. Not much character at all. Will it develop? Maybe. In a good way? Dunno. My 88 points may even be considered generous.
