  • Fully agree with the previous note. This showed very well once chilled down to ~45deg. A few minutes of air in the glass is all this needed. Drinking well but plenty of life left.

  • I loved this. Needs about 30 minutes of air. Intense honey flavors (minus sweetness) with quince, roasted apple, chamomile, caramel, honeysuckle and lilly flowers, sherry, and minerals. Lots of creamy lanolin. Not a ton of acidity left on this. I don’t think this is as sophisticated as Savennieres is supposed to get (this is my first Savennieres) and I get this sense that this might have been a little more vibrant at a younger stage, but still very good. Decent match with chickpea stew and crab risotto, good match with crab stuffed salmon and herbed goat cheese, but really great with a simple chilled asparagus salad. Serve fairly chilled but not too cold. Best from Riedel Loire glass (compared to zalto white wines and grassl). I wish I bought more.

  • Decanted for 2.5h in wine fridge around 5-7:30a. Brought to dinner at 6:30p. Still fairly mute aromas with hints of apples, glycerin, spice and minerals. Palate showed ripe apples, unripe pears, herbs, with some minerals. Moderate complexity. Mildly viscous and waxy mouthfeel. 90+

  • Screwcap. Library release.

Full gold color. Yellow citrus and fleshy apple nose, flinty.

Waxy cooked apple palate with noticable minerality. Salty, almost saline. Comes off a little fat but good acidity. Cheese notes. Medium length rocky baked apple finish with heat noticable. There’s a lingering savory umami note (soy sauce?). Mushroomy note that gives up its age and an oxidative nuttiness. More mineral than fruity. Good!

  • My contribution to a Loire CB tasting, my first of three bottles purchased last fall. Pale but toasty color. Quoting another reviewer, "Soft lanolin, vanilla, baked apple, honey, muddled mint, wet stone..." This bottle offered all that with decent acidity and a long finish. Only thing that surprised me is that it lacked any of the washed rind cheese notes typical (to me) Savvies.
