served at Christmas dinner x 2 bottles. Most excellent with prime rib. Not sure if I catalogued these correctly as they weren't supposed to exist! Note to self: make sure the 2001 bottles have been correctly counted.

49 Cab Sauv, 34 Merlot, 15 Cab Franc, and 2 PV. If you didn't know better, you would swear it was a high end Bordeaux. Beautiful ruby red, very clear, bigger body. Currant, tobacco, and fennel dominate the nose. Palate is super smooth, not ultra fruity, well balanced among currant, cigar box, somewhat earthy, fennel, leading to a beautiful long finish. I think I first tasted this wine seven years ago at a Ben Smith dinner at Cascadia (RIP), I thought it was great then but it is unbelievable now. Drink them if you are holding, don't see it getting any better than this.

Decanted this but kept the decanter in cellar to keep wine fresh. Came across as a sophisticated, lovely wine with good stuffing - again.

Consumed over 4 nights, good each night so likely no hurry. Sweet fruit dominates, though less so on days 3 and 4.
