No formal tasting notes for this bottle. I’ve tasted several vintages of this wine, including a previous bottle of this same 2009. This is by far the best Belgrave I’ve tasted. The previous bottle was very tired on day #2, this present one has better flavour than day #1. A definite case for bottle variation!

Dinner at Ecco , St Moritz (Ecco , St Moritz): We have this rule that 2009 & 2010 Bordeaux one can afford to be producer agnostic so good are the vintages. This goes even a step further , well round, soft earthy , dark fruit , light savoury feel. Definitely felt a bit older than a 2009 but that just makes it even more welcoming. Very pretty 92 and at a great time in its life and frankly we would not risk ageing this a lot further.

Lots of (slightly sweet) blackberry and blackcurrant fruit. Prominent dark chocolate and some tobacco. Elegant tannins, soft texture. A hint modern and too ripe for my palate, as are many 2009s. Good food wine though. In its drinking phase for sure, but no rush. Will hold another 5-8 years. - 90 points

Prince - Cabernets of the world (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Meaty, savoury, muted blackcurrant, plum, sweet spice. Juicy and fleshy, quite fresh considering the vintage, black hued fruits., floury textured persistent tannins, fruit just about carries, slight cedar. Okay.
