T's 45th Birthday (Søllerød Kro): From magnum. Stunning dark fruit and only showing slight age. Persistent and fruity aftertaste with lovely fine-grained tannins. This will last for a very long time but also a lovely wine to drink right now.

Commanderie des Costes du Rhone - Fall 2022 Kick-off (Claud): Bigger still. Lots of spice. Lots of alcohol. Out of a magnum (I think they might all be magnums). Lots of time needed but probably also just made in a style that's a bit different and more hedonistic which can be fun at times.

Decanted for about 7 hours then back into the bottle for the trip to Il Segreto. This needed all 7 hours and frankly another 7 certainly would not have hurt. This is excellent, if not the tiniest bit still closed. Great CdP notes of garrigue, red fruit and a hint of something earthy. Not funky at all. Perfectly balanced. My first CSJ-SS and not my last. Hoping to try again in 3-4 years and maybe even a longer decant. I have a feeling that if any were left, it would be even better today. 94+

Opened by the generous host. Dark garnet, aromatic nose with dark fruit, soil and spices. Works great for me up to the mid palate with great freshness despite the concentration and the 16% alcohol. Then I get the tar notes I am less fond of and the dry tannins start to build up. Well made wine to be enjoyed by the lovers of big C9dP. For me I’d rather take a Beaucastel from a cool vintage.
