Deep magenta colored with only the slightest touch of bricking. Nose is primarily earth with some spice and bramble fruit in the background.
Palate follows the nose with earthy notes taking center stage. The fruit and spice appears on the finish -- unmistakably the Zinfandel grape but nothing like a "typical" Zin -- no jamminess, sweetness, heat, etc. Te acid is still noticeable and tannins fully integrated. Not tired but fully mature, probably just beginning the downslope, and no reason to hold any longer. Color me impressed.

1998 was a light vintage for Cali Zin in general, more acidic and less ripe - perhaps more age worthy...BAM What a pretty and delicious wine!
Medium garnet in color, no bricking. Nose of mixed berries, baking spices and leather. Fresh on the palate with bright acidity. Perfect balance with mixed berries (red raspberries and cherries) and spices surrounding an elegantly structured wine - as elegant a Zin as you will ever find. Artistry in a glass. Well done!

Nose was weak with hints of being over ripe. The taste still showed strong fruit. Cherry and chocolate notes. Much better then I expected. Bottle had been in wine storage since purchase.

Amazing nose. Penetrating spice, cedar notes. Plummy fruit, dark cherry and cassis on the palate. Claret-like finesse. Perhaps better two years ago, but still a pleasure now.
