  • Further to my Note of Nov 20, '20: this is #7. Solid cork. Decanted with light sediment for its age. Medium purple; very mature red plum, some cherry; mature red fruits, hint of sweetness, good mouthfeel. Fruit somewhat faded from its prime but still enjoyable--but will continue to fade. Good for everyday, esp with rich and savory dishes. Notable+.

  • Bought a 12b case from a local independent shop 8-9 years ago for about 10/b; this is #7-8. Solid cork. Dark ruby; ripe plum, bit of red cherry that follow on the palate, some fruit fade from earlier bottles; good mouthfeel. Perhaps past peak but still tasty, glad to have a few more. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation (see earlier posts for my 4-category, non-point rating system): This is notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.

  • The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are slow. It smells like cool/menthol and petrol. It tastes like lead pencil and lead pencil. The body is medium. The wine has polished texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has low acidity.

  • A blend of Corvina and Rondinella grapes. Following vinification comes a controlled fermentation, and then refermentation on fresh marc of partially dried whole grapes to enrich aromas and to extract softer tannins. (Marc is the residue of skins and pips (seeds) of grapes after the juice is expressed.) Aged in wood for about 15 months. Suitable for long ageing.

  • To my palate, lacked the raisin/prune/plum concentration usually expected in a ripasso. Drinkable, but not special.
