Beautiful yellow color. A nose of honey, candied red apples, whip cream, petrolium and even a little botrytis. The nose appeared a little closed, but after breathing 30 mins. in a decanter it startet to open up a little. In spite of the sweet nose, the taste is surprisingly fresh. Yes, this wine is still a very sweet wine, but where as the nose showed sweet red apples caramelised in honey, the taste brings much more acidity to the table. Lime and citrus both come to mind. I like it, but not blown away...

(Dönnhoff Norheimer Kirschheck Riesling Spätlese) Light green-tinged yellow color; intriguing, tart peach, floral, ripe apple nose; delicious, lots of stuffing, green apple, white peach, mineral palate; medium-plus finish 93+ points
(Dönnhoff Norheimer Kirschheck Riesling Spätlese) ($41.00) Who doesn’t love this wine, year-in year-out? Who could possibly not love it? It’s like a really cute girl (or boy) with a wicked sense of humor, and this year it’s a ripe riot of greenness, key lime, lemon grass, wintergreen, lime blossom, and with the juiciest lavish cut; you can’t bear to spit it. Yet it has 100° and a gravity-defying lightness. It strains rational sense – but there it is.
