Wine and Food Vacation…Finally!; 4/18/2022-4/21/2022: Light to medium yellow. Telltale baby powder aromas along with tropical fruit and the barest bit of petrol after being open for 2 1/2 hours. Light weight, off dry. Incredible mix of guava, citrus, herb, and slate with perfect acidity. This is an amazing Kabinett in amazing shape. I wouldn’t be surprised if it saw its 30th birthday in fine form, and I just can’t believe how slowly it has come along after last tasting it 11 years ago.

Dinner on the deck (Seattle, WA): Well this went quickly. Stunning balance between mineral/salt, sweet, and tart/acid. Diesel, salt, lime and green apple.
After consuming this and a recent 2002 of the same, I am realizing that I should really be buying JJ Prum WS Kabinett in every vintage. More than the Spatlese and Auslese, this is utter value and utter magic. In fact, I am realizing that I am just an idiot for not buying it more often. In fact, I have never had a disappointing JJ Prum Kabinett. It has taken me 20 years, but I think I eventually learn from my mistakes...

Blind, some CO2 on the tip of the tongue, sweet notes of cotton candy, marmalade, dried peaches, apricots, pineapple, coconut, highly acidic ending on a slight bitter and never-ending finish. Wow! What ever this is, it will hold for another 10+ years. I don’t know how the Germans do it year in year out, but their whites are just incredible!

As previous, WOW. Huge depth of flavour. Has hit its stride. Was dead as a dodo 5 years ago. Will no doubt keep but will it ever be better than now?
