A beautiful, mature Tempranillo that I'd certainly struggle with in a blind tasting. Behaves like a mature meritage from a better maker out of Napa…
Acidity keeps this wine rolling forward. Molten tannins (still a baby metal bite) and beautiful black olives. Absolutely delicious. Aromas include black olives, leather saddle and spice. The fruit is towards mature berries with acidity and heft. Well balanced, long and complex. Absolutely lovely!
It¡s darn good! If you are stashed, no need to feel stressed.

Opened and decanted last night hoping to enjoy it with an amazing grade 5 Japanese wagyu sirloin steak. What a disappointment, totally acidic and not much else. Out of curiosity I decided to pour it back into the bottle and give it 24 hours time. Well, lo and behold, tonight another bottle emerged. Quite full bodied, it had shed almost all the acidic part and in its place a good taste of red fruit emerged. Really enjoyed it with some Stilton cheese. What a great surprise!
Surprisingly good as it was well past it's CT and RP drinking intervals. Beautiful nose with cherry and red fruit on mid palate. Alas, it was my last bottle of this wine

Striking aromas of wood, earth, and olives. Succulent blackberry fruit, lively acidity, and copious suave tannins holding it all together. Outstanding balance and very good length. Really at a perfect place right now, fully mature and full of verve. Plenty of structure to keep it going for years, but you should try it right now.

Immaculate cork and fill, slowly inching towards maturity but still quite structured, meaty, with some Duero old wood funk, lots of dimensions. Not up to the 94/95 but very good. No rush here.

(Bodegas y Viñedos Alión Ribera del Duero) Bricking dark red violet color; slight TCA, tart red fruit, currant, green herbs nose; tight, tart currant, dill palate with slightly drying tannins; medium-plus finish
