Ahhh – our old friends volatile acidity (“VA”) and sous bois! They did not improve the wine, but they did not kill it either – this was an attractive if not profound bottle of wine, nice intensity despite being slightly on the light side, good earthiness and minerality to it. The 1969s in red Burgundy are in a state of graceful decline, and this bottle was a good example of that, especially on the finish which I found too dominated by acidity. The wine had its admirers, particularly Bob.
