Lavender, garigue and evergreen shrubs in abundance along with black pepper, beef blood, dark chocolate, red cherries and black raspberries. Great tannic grip with sweet black licorice and mint flavors at mid-palate. My only complaint is the finish was a bit short; perhaps 15-20 seconds. Needs at least 2 hours of decanting. Fabulous old-world wine with a touch of modernity. I wish I could have more.

-- decanted approx. 1 hr. before initial taste -- -- tasted non-blind over a few hours -- -- 75% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre --
NOSE: slightly-to-moderately fumey; rich, ripe, dark red berries; celery; pretty expressive.
BODY: dark violet-garnet color with slight bricking throughout; color is of great depth; medium-full to full bodied.
TASTE: little bit of moderately course tannins still present; "dark" and smoky; smoky leather; no brett; warm --- alc. can be tasted a bit, too --- labelled at 14% abv, but it must be higher than that. Drink Now or Hold; certainly no longer any *need* to hold.

Unusually dark, tarry, tannic and masculine for a Ch9dP. probably reflecting the 30% Mourvedre in the blend. Hints of iron, oxtailsoup, blackpudding, charcoal, dark spices and bitter chocolate. Although there are still a few blackberries and dates bobbing up and down in this brooding and rustic wine, I'd drink this within a few years time. At this moment, there stil lis enough freshness and vivacity toop keep things enjoyable. Impressive. And very nice.

-- decanted 1.25 hrs before initial taste -- -- tasted non-blind over approx. a couple hours --
NOSE: expressive, with dark raspberry, ample mineral, and some noticeable alcohol.
BODY: dark, blood red color with slight bricking throughout; medium-full bodied.
TASTE: very earthy, with a smoky oak edge; "dark"; fruit seems to be falling-out; dark boysenberry; light mineral note; medium to medium+ acidity; Drink Now and over at least the next 5 years.

Hmmm. My wife loved this and I didn't so much. It's very ripe, dark fruit, a little olivey, spices are subdued. Disappointing compared to the notes on my previous bottles....
