  • Golden colour. I was worried by the colour but it’s completely fine and most of the other comments here are similar. Bright fruit-led nose with red apple, marmalade and a touch of classic Riesling petrol. Lush texture, it’s rich yet fresh from the zingy acidity. Long and tropical with a strong mango character and a toffee note on the long finish.

  • Good news was this was still quite alive and lively, but the flavor profile was a little heavy/cloying. Tropical fruits and ripe peach, with an overlay of canned apricots. Just not my favorite, I prefer a racier wine with some citrus notes, as I remember this wine was younger. B-

  • Very dark for this vintage, not bad but ever so slightly oxidized although you might not know it if you didn't have the Willi Shafer 2007 next to it which was pristine. Chengdu Impression free for all wine dinner Yarom group.

  • Deep golden in colour, there's a wash of mainly tropical fruit and lime on the lovely nose. More mango, peach and slight lime on the medium, fairly sweet palate. Not the ultimate in complexity, but the fruit and acid have integrated very well, so that there is both depth and elegance. Some botrytis notes too here, and on the slightly viscous texture. Delicious now, and will last many years (A-).

  • Golden or even golden-brown in color, muted nose. Bitter, "stern" tangy peach over grey rocks, some petrolly background. Not quite viscous in texture, but closer to it than to being an acid rapier or an acid wash. Nonetheless lively, and with all sweetness fruit sweetness. Very nice wine, just not *quite* the verve, energy of other Donnhof bottles I remember.

[First wine in my own personal "Rieslings with Asian: Really?" series. Food was takeout Thai - spicy beef salad, cashew chicken, noodles with tofu. I "get it", and all the minerally tingle from the spice is fun, but so far hypothesis confirmed: not wine, beer. (Especially when your mouth is on fire, no?)]

(Donnhoff Norheimer Kirschheck Spatlese) This was gorgeously forward and very very smokey with cherries and cassis galore. Decadent but with lovely acidity and purity. Crunchy red fruits and a silky mouthfeel. Young but still open and delicious. Lovely bottle of Donnhoff and I am not a Norheimer guy usually.
