Appearance is medium purple, slightly chalky and hazy. Developed, leggy. Nice aromas of bramble, strawberry, cherry, cinnamon, that likewise translations to the palate with hints of burnt orange peel, new leather, tobacco smoke and meat. Medium acid and tannin make for a mildly hot, somewhat stern mix that I am enjoying, the tannin is integrated but still grippy on the front of the palate a little bit. Finish is nice and has some length and allows the wine to mellow a touch and lean into its fruit and some vegetal characteristics a little bit. This is still drinking really nice right now, has a couple years left for sure. A nice, well structured and complex wine from a solid regional vintage.

Opened today. Hard to believe that the 2005's are edging on 20 years old. For the most part, most of them are quite youthful. This one is starting to develop some secondary characteristics. Roasted red fruit but bacon fat, grilled meats, au jus, and mushrooms are also very present. Finishes with hot red fruits and herbal, savory character. Red pepper. Very rounded mouthfeel and balanced. Quite enjoyable. And this will continue to hold and develop. Very structured wine. I love these wines by Chapoutier that are a little off the beaten path. Well done!

Drinking very well at 15 years of age. Decanted and let sit for an hour or so before we slowly started consuming it. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate was dark plums, tobacco and spice. The finish was moderate to long. My friend and I drank it as a memorial to two pathetic NY Football teams which we had the displeasure of watching. Painful it was.

Nice wine. Good structure and balance. A refined Heathcote shiraz.

Not nearly as good as the 2004. See previous note.
