popped and poured with bacon wrapped pork chops, celery root purée, and chanterelles.
Starting to get tired, still has that huge almost too-sweet mouthfeel but the oak and fruit are fading, and I've always thought the wines of this era from SB were over-oaked. Overall still quite pleasurable. Drink up!

Short note, from magnum...has held up quite well and wish I would have waited even longer. Great aged Oregon pinot with classic Dundee Hills dirt, straw/raspberry and only the slightest artificial sweetness taste that seems common with OP. It was not enough to detract from a nicely middle-aged wine. I've always been a fan of Sokol with a good 7 years minimum in bottle.

Dark murky color. Forest floor, red fruit, a bit of oak on the nose. Taste shows cherry, truffle, very slight herbalness on the palate. Very well integrated tannins, nicely balanced. Drink up at or near peak and drinking well.

Nose is a balance of "Oregon funk" and red berry. Flavor is a great balance of cherry, acidity, and earth. This wine has aged well and should continue to do so. Wish I had more.

Wow. For a guy who doesn't like pinots, this wine was absolutely spectacular. Earthy, but not like the kind of barnyard that I smelled in Oregon when we were there. There was a lot of naturalness about it, but not so much that it dominated the flavor. It had a light fruit, but tasted like it had enough body that it wouldn't disappoint. It had a great overall drinkability. Glad I got it, sad I didn't get more...may have to order it. For a guy who usually will not drink pinots, this wine over-delivered! No, not at all a fruit-bomb. Just right.
