Volnay 1er Cru 2005 Tasting (Chicago IL): At first I feared this was very advanced, but with a few minutes realized it was still drinkable. Plenty of butterscotch with caramel apple and some hints of apple cider. Very good density for its level, but too mature. My previous bottle opened two years ago was much better.

3 bottles opened and tasted, all were different. I do understand why Comtes Lafon is problematic for the restaurants to implement this wine in their wine list. The other bottle had clear oxydative notes, but remarkable improvement after one hour.

3 bottles opened and tasted, all were different. I do understand why Comtes Lafon is problematic for the restaurants to implement this wine in their wine list. An other bottle was totally alive, but was thinner as the other superb bottle.

A very special birthday dinner (Amsterdam): Bottle 3: more developed than bottle 1 and 2; fragile citrus, slightly oxidative, but with some aeration (30 minutes) the bottle found a certain balance.
