Ruby-garnet, some fine sediment, some fading at the rim. The nose is all briars and brambles - tough stuff here with little weight of fruit sweetness to soften it. Smoked tea and sweet tobacco. Redcurrants and dust. Really all of one piece at 32 years of age. In the mouth this has plenty of structure - tannins are +, acid is + loads of currants and zesty acidity. Something savory, like a game bird seared in hot cast iron. Just stellar stuff. The structure of Cab with the “structural” flavors of Zin.

One of the best Zinfandels I've ever had. Served blind, I guessed a 15-year-old mountain Cab. Lots black fruit, plenty of graphite and chocolate, no sign of the Ridge American oak. It's rich with great depth through the midpalate and still surprisingly structured. Right up there with the 1991 Geyserville, although completely different in style.

Jimsomare Vertical at The White House (The White House, Anaheim, CA): Ever changing nose of meaty goodness that smelled like a Southern Rhone. Expressive and complex the palate also seemed to be in constant motion being a bit different with every taste. Terrific balance of fruit and acid. Probably my WOTN.

Red and black fruits, smoked meats, silky mouthfeel, resolved tannin. In great shape for a 27 yr old zin!
