Classic Batailley. Well made. More gutsy than usual. Tertiary flavours not showing. Drinkable now (after 3 hours decanting) and will improve. Drink 3-5 years.

Dark red, showing maturity shimmer --- Nose fruits and herbs, nice sour cherry tone, overall balanced and elegant, red currant coming through, some blueberry, some glue, shy nutty notes, basil --- Palate watery, nice acidity, red fruit dominant, cherries, elegant and tasty sour tone, nice sweetness, overall fresh, fruity and tasty. Finishes on its fruity and tart character, nutty notes flashing back, nice mineral notes. Tasty and classy top stuff, like it a lot.

Coravin fun - Bordeaux (My place, Burwood): From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas of cedar, blackcurrant, savoury underpin, a little dried twigs, forest floor, brambles, slightly blood, tiny alcohol prickle. With time the fruit 'pops' a little more. And the fruit is to the fore on the palate which proves juicy and fleshy, tannins are persistent, drying but in support, all travels very long. Yum.

Blackcurrant, cream, cep, touch of soil, liquorice is dominant. A touch of farmyard. Ripe. A little warmth despite the 13%. Feels almost resolved but this is primary and I assume the fruit is covering the tannins. Should be fine with time and may move on quickly from here. Maybe a harsh 88.

It needs to be decanted at least one hour.
