14th Annual Lyon 10 Year Retro Tasting (Eugene, Oregon): I'm not 100% sure this is the exact "Edi Simcic" red that was brought to this tasting, but supposedly it was Bordeaux varietals grown in Slovenia. The wine had a sweetness to the nose and was a bit over-ripe and jammy. Pretty interesting tho' and reasonably deep. Dried out over night: 85pts on day 2.

Some new oak aromas initially, then some dense dark merlot fruit, milk chocolate and cedar. Very dry, lowish acids, and firm tannins. Good concentration. Would really benefit from another 5-10 years I would think. Reminded me a lot of a Bordeaux.

This dark ruby wine which was a 85% Merlot, 10% Cab Sav & 5% Cab Franc, dark like a good everyday bordeaux from the right bank. Nice fruit up front however the finish was not has together as I would like it. After a couple glasses you can notice the alcohol, needed a little more time down to soften out the finish.
