Intense black colour with a thin dirty crimson hue. Aroma of forest floor, sawdust, blackberry, nougart. Freshens up surprising quick. Plum, sour cherry, clove, dark chocolate, dried herbs. Tannin is quite strong and grippy, takes over the fruit a fair bit. Full of character, balanced acidity, a variety of flavours. It probably required more airing then my lack of patience provided. Actually still impressed by how nice it is given it age.

Cork, 14.5% alc. A much more vibrant deep red/black hue than the 98 Mountain Blue consumed recently.
The wine is meaty and smoky, along with vanilla, blackberry, chocolate coated raisins, and coffee.
It has always lacked the intensity of flavour and length expected of a $50+ wine that it used to be in prior vintages. Perhaps that’s why this vintage sold for $20 on release. Showing better on Day 3, with less meaty reduction and a more vibrant fruit profile. Nevertheless, there’s still a lot of vanilla and the length retains a question mark. Some life remaining though.

Inky colour, almost black. Musky earthy aroma with a slight alcohol undertone. Medium to full body. Reasonably smooth taste with long finish. Fruit is present, tannin exist but not overpowering at all. Dark fruit and cassis with chocolate. Given the colour and aroma I expected it to be a lot dryer than it was. Still has a couple of years left.

A wonderful wine. Full bodied, aromatic long on the palate. I was pleasantly surprised how well it aged.
