Really fantastic. Good fill, cork was just short of fully saturated. Nose of toasted oak, burnt caramel, marzipan, just as others have described. Palate of toasted almonds again with some nicely softened toasted oak notes (vanilla). Most impressive, however, was the relative freshness and acidity of this 22-year old. A great find at $25 this year, wish I had been brave enough to buy more than the one bottle.

Notes from day 1, bottle open for about an hour, cork saturated. Medium gold color. Nose of honey, nuts, little sherry. Palate of marzipan, honey, sherry, a little banana peel, nuts, some oxidative notes. Finish was above average decent acidity for a wine this age and a little creaminess seems to come out as well. Overall a good wine, but drink up. Drink: 50+5+12+17+6 4

Bought and drank one night later, an experience that is worth the very reasonable price. definitely some brown bottles at the store, buyer beware. A little closed right out of the bottle with some bret-like notes, but those did not last. Double decanted and consume over two hours, some signs of slight oxidation, but a wonderful balance underneath, good acidity, but not anywhere in the vinegar range. Nut and honey notes while still remaining refreshing.

Lovely mature scents of caramel, honey, marzipan, and toasted oak. On the palate, a nice yin-yang of honey and bitter almonds, with an oily texture and plenty of acidity. A great food companion and just wonderful, complex, mature white.

Dead. Alas. Too bad it was the Gravonia and not one of the other cuvees - those are built to last.
