This is a very very workable wine. It actually earns this score. Not flashy, not profound, just an over-achiever that totally delivers an extremely solid, earthy, meaty, fruitful, leathery combination of yum. When you want this expression of the fruit, this "traditional" producer just totally delivers. Well done! A much better bottle than an earlier one tasted a few months back.

This "old fashion" wine is full of leather, bitter fruits, floral aromas, dry and tight (i.e. lots of acids "cleansing the mouth") and paired great with the Osso Bucco we served it with.

Bought this at Terroir and then slugged it down at Sara's with some mac & cheese. Initially thin and a little reductive, this freshened up nicely with about 30 minutes of air. Less grapey and monolithic than an '04 Giacosa dolcetto tasted last week. I like it.
