Ruby with little clearing. Slight funk on the nose which made me wonder at first whether it was corked, but it was not. Licorice and some pepperiness on the nose. Medium weight, very deep black cherry, soil, great acidity and salinity, and ripe tannins. This has matured and fleshed out beautifully. Well worth the wait and just at the beginning of its drinking window. Outstanding Volnay.

Still a baby, but incredible stuffing and every bit as good as the D'Angerville Taillepieds in this vintage. Understated but still showing the density of the vintage. Dark fruits predominate and rise after two hours in decanter. Long finish, still somewhat masculine but fine and elegant. Slight spice notes on the finish.

Wow, this showed delightfully. My first and only bottle, so I'm stoked. Aromas show violets, deep cherries, with earthy, stony, rose petal tones. Juicy and ripe with delightful cherry fruit. Structured but refined tannins, zesty acidity, nice concentration but open and vibrant. Earthy, stony, clay, rose petals and oregano tones come out. My partner (who is not generally a Burg fan) enjoyed this wine, and I thought it paired really well with a meal of braised pork shank, roasted potatoes and bell peppers.

Rich and spicy, ripe fruit, good balance, plenty of acidity. No hurry to drink, but there is room to improve.
