Dark color, ullage 4-4.5 cm. Popped-decanted-and-poured. Not a lot forthcoming to start, this got increasing interesting and concentrated as the evening wore on, with butterscotch, caramel apple, faint black truffle, and candied pecans all coming through. I enjoyed this much more than some other tonight.

Beautifully mature and still vibrant. Mature orchard fruit, orange peel and honey aromas. A substantial palate that has lots of complexity with freshness and length. Held strong for a few hours.

Burgundy Dinner with Friends (RPM Seafood - Chicago IL): Popped-and-poured. Dark color and slightly musty start, but this freshened up brightly within 15-20 minutes and stayed enticing for the rest of the evening. Fresh and dried ripe apricot with candied ginger. Good weight and length, this kept changing and unfolding in interesting ways, even if not quite as great as the very best bottles from the same case opened over the past few years.

Comtes Lafon Virtual Tasting with Lea and Pierre Lafon (Planet Earth): Opened 3 hours before serving, in order to share with other quarantined tasters. Honeycomb, dried apricot, and marzipan traces. Dense, meaty and complex with layers of flavors that kept unfolding over at least an hour in glass. Shockingly bright for its age, despite clearly dark color. Possibly the best of the 6 bottles so far from this case. Started shortening and fading after two hours in glass.

Amazing old nose, nutty
Beautiful sweetness on the palate, acidity still present.
Long, fresh, complex.
