Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined and refrigerated), note from day 2. Appearance: Clear, medium garnet with corner bricking. Nose: Clean, medium intensity with developed aromas of dried plum, earth, bell pepper, spice, and shoe polish. Palate: Dry, medium acid, silky soft medium+ tannin, 14.1% abv, medium- intensity with fully developed flavors of dried dark fruit - plum and blackberry with notes of dark earth and bell pepper and a medium+ finish. Overall a good wine with nice balance and length though likely slightly past peak - drink now.

Took to a restaurant, popped and poured. Consumed with a cheese plate and then a rare steak over the course of 2+ hours. Beautiful notes of dark fruits and earth, and maybe some baking spices. If new world merlot were more often like this, I would definitely drink it more frequently.

Opened/decanted 2 hours before blind tasting, then returned to bottle for event. My impressions were much the same as my last opening on 10/12/14. Really, really nice Merlot

Popped and poured, consumed over 3 hours. Nose: Medium-plus expressiveness, classic merlot nose dominated by plum and blueberry with shoe leather and saline notes. Palate: Slightly full bodied, sweet dark fruit attack, plenty of acidic backbone left on this 12 year old merlot, Asian spice drives a mid-palate lift with dark earth joining in and dominating the back-end through a medium length finish. The last of 3 bottles enjoyed over the past couple years. This has held up well and likely still has several more years left in its drinking window.

Brought to blind tasting of Merlots & Cabs. Also brought an '06 Havens Merlot and tasting them side x side I got very similar nose and palate sensations...Great! (and I don't usually like Merlot). Very nice nose of dark fruit and earth, with velvety fruit on the palate. Nothing has changed my mind on this wine since I last tasted it 3 months ago. It is still a killer QPR for $16 delivered!
