  • Cellared from purchase. Absolutely delicious. 18 years old, and hardly any bricking at the edges. Plenty still going on on the palate. Winner

  • This is an absolute surprise! In my cellar there are wines for which I have no expectations when I open them. This was also the case with the 2005 Acústic by the Acústic Cellers from Montsant. Albert Jané's winery was still very young at the time. I think it was his first regular vintage. I met him in Hamburg two years ago and he said that he hadn't drunk 2005 Acústic himself for a long time and hadn't had 2005 in his cellar anymore. At that time the wine probably cost around € 9,-, today it costs around € 12,95. It is the price entry wine of the winery. Today the winery is certified organic. The wine is a cuvée from Garnacha and Carinyena.

Yesterday I opened the wine, which was already described as very tired here. But there is no sign of that. At the edge a little brick brown, otherwise dark red and fragrant. A few tertiary aromas are noticeable, some undergrowth and leather. Otherwise this wine is a blend of dark fruit and cinnamon. It is more than silky on the palate, rather soft, but interspersed with a fine, fresh acidity. This wine presents itself almost elegantly, which has far exceeded all my expectations. Chapeau!

  • Definitely past its prime. Decent fruit, recognizably Spanish terroir but woody and dusty. Drink now. Right now.

  • This wind was well past its peak. Decanted for one hour and the flavors were severely muted.

  • Decanted for two hours prior to service; wasn't even remotely enough time, to my surprise. In the glass, a very dark, clear, purple tinted red. On the nose, a mix of grenache liqueur and port-like reductive secondary notes. On the palate, raspberries, a touch of wood and a faint hint of cedar, overtaken almost immediately by a wall of tannins. There is still plenty of fruit here, but I can't imagine how long it will take for this to resolve; this tastes very young, not at all like a 10 year old wine.
