As I poured it into the decanter, I got the smell of the inside of a wine barrel. So, thought we might find an over oaked wine. To their credit, it is just a bit shy of being over oaked. The oak almost is too powerful for the fruit to express itself, but we will suffer through. As deep purple color as a wine can get. Toasted head nose leading into black cherry and blueberry aromas. Only medium bodied, there is a momentary explosive hit of fruit, that if longer lasting would be an awesome wine. No question about the alcohol content. Just barley enough balancing acid. The finish has a very typical, emerging blackberry preserves meets dark cherry.and lead pencil.

Deep inky purple in the glass, aromatic nose black fruits, juicy palate of anise, blackberry and wood. Pleasant.

Foppiano Vineyards tasting (Foppiano Vineyards, Healdsburg, CA): High acid with blueberry and tight, fine tannin. Good simple wine and well priced

I found this characterless. If it had just been pleasant, that might have been fine, but I can't even give it that.
