Mostly herbal and cedar notes on the nose. Still very dark in the glass. Herb, cedar, anise, tannins, and saline notes in the mouth. Overall impression is of a wine that has reached its peak.

A real oddity, 100% Petit Verdot. This feels like it has barely budged since my last bottle over 4 years ago. Tobacco and bright berry on the nose. The palate features very racy acidity and firm tannins. Fresh, juicy, powerful. A bit of savory vitamin. Wow, it really has just barely budged since I last had this in the Fall of 2010. There is a dark, brooding aspect to the wine on the approach, but the fruit gets very red, tart and fresh as it lingers. Certainly a very interesting wine.

I have loved my other 2005 Cadence wines - had not opened this due to it being 100 % Petit Verdot - turned out to be much better than I expected. Balanced, nice fruit, nice oak, easy to drink with grilled Kalbi marinated steak.
