  • A year ago I had a 2016 vintage and this one is much better.
    More complex with more aromas and flavors and with better balance and structure.
    Aromas: leather, smoke, cedar, minerals, herbs and more. Very hypnotic and mesmerized.
    Flavors: again cedar, minerals, herbs, red cherry, plum, milk chocolate ( o yes!). Long finish with soft spice and red cherry. Velvety texture. Very addictive and enjoyable wine. No wows, but also no ooops.

    2017 got 94 points according to the WA Vintage ( 2016 got 98!)

  • 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah & 10% Mourvedre. 2y in oak with 50% being new. Decanted 30m.

    Pine, raspberry, earthy, garrigue, bramble, dried spice, minerality. A super easy drinker but wish it had a little more structure & less flab. Personally I'd drink up in the next few years.

  • A well made and very enjoyable wine. Good balance, good length, good acidity and typical fruit profile for this wine. Glad that the 15% alcohol is not dominant on the palate. Exceeded my expectations.

  • Caveat: This is a delayed post by several days.

    A rich and nuanced wine, all at once. Despite the blend percentage, this drinks like a rich Syrah more so than the Grenache of which it is primarily composed. A surprising, spicy garrigue note complements the dark, lush, plummy profile. Cassis and mulberry arise from time to time. Low acidity, but an excessively high EtOH level distracts. Tannins are lush and velvety, but there is still some cellar time left to play with. I recommend opening early and, if practicable, decanting before drinking. This will stand up to and complement highly spiced Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes from North Africa, Greece, Turkey, Georgia, etc.
