I find most Petite Sirah’s monolithic, but Jeff has crafted a nice one. Full bodied and structured but with a bit of finesse if that can be said about a PS. Fun to drink with a big steak.

Has years ahead of it. Sampled over a week with a Coravin. Looks like squid ink in the glass, with blackberry/blueberry notes finally emerging on the nose. Fruit profile continues over in the palate, with a hint of baking spice and vanilla/mocha. Still really muted by a wall of tannin.

BJAMESCLARK's TN pretty well nailed it. This wine is a party in a glass. Deep, dark, glass-staining purple in color. The nose is clean, with blackberry, blueberry, baked fruit and baking spices (cinnamon), toasted pine-nuts and smoky new oak. The palate is dry, but with lots of sweet fruit upon entry, including blackberry, black cherry, and strawberry shortcake. The alcohol is medium (+) to pronounced at 15%, yet the wine is a lot more balanced than might appear at first swirl and sniff, thanks to medium (+) acidity and medium (+) to pronounced tannins. This is a full-bodied wine with medium (+) to pronounced flavor intensity. Thanks to its velvety and rich mouthfeel, this wine lingers on the palate through a long finish. This is a great cocktail wine, but it is an even better food wine. It provides a good foil to savory, salty and fatty foods which really help bring out its complexity. It is drinking very well right now, but it clearly has the structure and stuffing to last several more years. Very impressive effort.

Deep, dark and opaque showing an inky purple color and heavy glass staining tears. After time in the decanter aromas show richness of fruit, blackberry pastilles, plum sauce, fig paste, and huckleberry compote laced with aromas of sandalwood, chai and baking spice, vanilla cream, deep violets, mocha and pastry dough. The palate is full and concentrated. Massive fruits upon entry that lean on the compote side, blackberry, black plum, fig preserves, and huckleberry pie. beautifully spiced from entry through the mid palate and continues on through the finish. Vanilla, pipe tobacco, mocha, sandalwood and violets. Acidity remains fresh and juicy at a medium+ level, while the ripe, gripping tannins are moderate-plus bordering on high. The finish lingers on flavors of fruit compote and fig preserves that are generously spiced.
Overall Drinking very well right now and should continue to do so for at leads another 5 years.

New World Blind Tasting Group $25+ (Bin 75): Black inky core, hugely extracted, absorbs all of the light from the room; acorn, dark fruit, ink, violets, bramble, smoky, interesting nose; silkier texture, some age, integrated oak, not as heavy as it looks, decent lift; obvious manipulation in the cellar with this one but I couldn't help but like it especially at this stage of its development.
