{cork, 12.5%} Plenty of bretty character - sorry, terroir - here; some underlying savoury red/raspberry fruits; mild dusty tannins, lowish acid, unobtrusive oak. Better with food. Medium-bodied, semi-mature.., or well, probably close to peak. There's still a bit of bandage/horse to this which lingers to the end of the bottle; I don't find it especially offensive but I can see why some might. Confected, mouldering note to the flavours; there's some compost and rotting strawberry too. Any viognier isn't obvious. Short/medium finish. On balance, drink up.

Essence of plumbs and white pepper with a meaty animale profile, somewhat funky and imperfect, but nothing too out of control. Mid bodied solid syrah well suited to winter stews but no life changing experiences here.

{cork, 12.5%} Pretty, developing aromatics; cherries, white pepper, spice, peachy/apricot sweetness. The palate has a little ripe fruit left, but is overwhelmed by drying, dusty tannins. Not oak, just ultra-drying out tannins. Food helps, but it lacks generosity. Dried fruit, not over-ripe, just really dessicated. At, or beyond, peak.

This seems at its peak. Expressive herbal and floral aromas (lavender and roses), elegant arc and structure, well balanced, Burgundian not in taste but in style and texture. Not as meaty as some Cote-roties can be.

No formal note. No seepage. Remains lean but this has turned a corner and is developing nicely.
Still quite garnet coloured. I reckon this will start to show its best in the coming 5 years.
Drink or hold to 2026
