This bottle of the Aubry VV cuvee was awesome. I don't think this bottling will go much longer. Very mature, yet it held it's own very well. Drinking delicioulsy. The nose is all Pinot Blanc, and then the Chardonnay, and then Pinot Noir. All the fruits blend back into the glass very nicely and play well with each other. I wouldn't hold this longer than a few more years. Yum.

Occasional dinner group; Bordeaux 2003 plus some extras.: Rich and focused bubble with a lot of minerals, very light and pleasant oxidation impressions, tight tart citrus and pleasant bitterness in the finish. A really nice bubble.

(L. Aubry "La Nombre d’Or Campanae Veteres Vites") ($68.00) It means “The old vines of the countryside.” This vintage the assemblage is 25% Pinots Blanc and Gris co-fermented, 20% Petit Meslier, 15% Arbanne, 15% CH, 20% PN and 5% Meunier (or “Meunier!” as Aubry declaims each time he speaks the word. The guy likes Meunier.) Disgorged 12/10. A clear classic fragrance for this cuvée, focused and sexy and detailed and exotic; mirabelles, brioche, really almost a squid-ink finish, along with sweet hay.

Pure aromatics of ripe pear and apple. This has great depth and textural richness. Drinking really well - great stuff.
