Pale garnet with clear rim; very tight and unforgiving nose, what an old burg drinking friend would call "tighter than a bull's ass!" While really nice fruit is clearly there, it fails to open readily with unyielding tannins and brisk acid keeping it austere for nearly an hour. Should come with warning label "Patience required!" Gritty teeth now but serious potential. 91 now with possible 93/94 in 5 to 10 years.

True to the vintage, and to Barthod. These wines are always so pure and elegant but always so cranky when young! Lots of candied strawberry, dark cherry, conveying a "solar" type feel to the fruit. Hints of licorice and tea spice on the sidelines make this more elegant but the flavors are fleeting and a bit vague/tight today. Needs time. Joe used the word "rigid" to describe this wine and it is quite accurate. Not giving much today. 10 years from now, maybe?

Very elegant and appealing nose of red berries and spices. Silky tannin, fruit coupled with a rather high acidity giving it a very elegant and sleek impression. Much better than the previous bottle. Keep the next until 2023 and try again.

Rather primary fruit with notes of raspberry and cranberry, red currant. Closed despite 2h of air, earthy with the fruit hiding in the background. Just vinous, lacking PN markers and without any immediate appeal at this stage. The stuffing is there so i presume this was just in "the tunnel". Give it more time, I will keep mine at least another 3-4 and try again.
