Beautiful bouquet with red and dark berries, herbs and spices and a firm dose of oak. On the palate the same impressions, chocolate, juicy acidity, minerals and still slightly sticky tannin. Beautiful wine in its young maturity stage. 92 - 93

UWS a random set of wines (@ JB): Vanilla and a lot of (American?) oak in the bouquet. On the palate chocolate, red berries and herbs and spices. Beautiful wine in its early maturity stage.

Drank over 2 nights. First night the tannins were overpowering. It was hard to enjoy since it was the youngest wine and was up against 5 other big boys,4 of which were top Bordeaux from the 90s. Second night it’s really enjoyable. Tannins are almost all gone, ultra smooth and balanced, refreshing and tasty. The aromas are subdued but I’m getting some mild dark fruits, black olives, a bit of game and leather. Nice taste that lasts and the finish is perfect, not too thick or thin - just right. 91 but maybe 93-94 in a few years. Drinks well now but will probably get better over next 10 years.

Northern Rhone Tastings; 4/15/2016-4/16/2016: Tasted at the domaine. Aromas of anise, smoked meats, violets and black cherry. The palate is bold and rich, retaining balance, and showing black fruit, with notes of iron, black olive, herbs and smoke. Silky tannins, and a big finish. Excellent.
