2009 Jean Michel Guyon Gevrey Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Village Wine
Cellared since 2015 PnP on Dec 10, 2023 drank over 3 nights Crimson-garnet with definite bricking. Nose of black fruit, slight wood and Sous bois. The mouth revealed rich, dark fruit, soft, integrated tannins with good balance. There was still some complexity as wine evolved in the glass and better on the second night. The finish was short. An aged but still very enjoyable village wine. It is at the end of its drinking window.
90 points.

This needs some air to open up! At least an hour. Aromas of red fruit, wet stone, iron, floral notes, and woody spice. On the palate this is medium body, med acid and med+ tannin. It’s certainly got some grip which lends me to think this will continue to age well as long as the fruit holds on. The finish is slightly bitter and this may or may not improve in time. Hard to say if it’s worth holding any longer. It won’t fall apart but I don’t know if it will improve much more.

Sort of had to do a double take on this...more black fruit than red fruit tonight. Black raspberries or even blackberries. Surely I’m smoking something more than the chiminea?? Still wonderful, though.

Oh my, this is good, with more to come. Complex red fruit and cured meat nose, with a savory palate of raspberry and rhubarb, with stems and all, with good acidity and lingering tannins suggesting more life yet...Very long, almost eternal, finish. Compared with Robert Sinskey Three Amigos 2011, and each raised my estimation of the other...

Medium ruby, translucent. Aromatic nose showing red berries, earth, bacon/savory. Palate of raspberry, pomegranate, rhubarb, pine notes, cedar, earth notes. Medium body and finish, silky and elegant texture
really gorgeous showing on this evening...classic Gevrey-Ch, Wine is in a great spot now, should drink at this level for a while if wanting to cellar. Decant allowed this to open, wine benefits from a decant or slow ox at this point
